Thomas A. “Tommy” Reed

Thomas A. “Tommy” Reed, 75 of Juneau, Alaska passed away on January 26, 2017 at his home.

He was born on October 23, 1941 in Hillsboro the son of James “Tom” and Martha “Kee” Reed. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Thomas Andrew Reed Jr.

Tom was a 1959 graduate of Livingston High School. He lived in Livingston, Litchfield and Springfield prior to moving his family to Juneau in October 1970 to begin working with the State of Alaska as a computer programmer. He was employed by the US Postal Service from 1973-1981. Upon returning to State of Alaska service, he was the mailroom supervisor and worked with the Alaska Marine Highway System. Following his retirement, Tom worked at Alaska Airlines and other Juneau agencies.

Tom served in the US Air Force from 1959-1963 and the Alaska National Guard during the 1970’s. He was honorably discharged from both. He enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, fishing, bowling, bingo, playing cards and had a love for dogs.

Survivors include: Daughters, Beth (Tim Young) Andes-Young of Wisconsin and Lori (Teil) Buzzell of Alaska; Grandchildren, Danti and Tyne Andes of Wisconsin and Teilhard Buzzell of Alaska; Brother, Jerry Reed of Kansas.

Cremation was accorded prior to ceremonies
Graveside Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento, where military honors will be provided.
