FCI Lockdown

Warden Tom Werlich at the Greenville Federal Correctional Institution has confirmed to WGEL that the medium security facility was placed in lockdown earlier this month.

The warden said a couple of inmates were involved in an inmate assault over the Labor Day weekend.

He said no one was seriously injured. Warden Werlich reported that interviews were conducted and video footage of the incident was reviewed. Other inmates were briefed about the situation.

According to the warden, operations at the prison were back to normal by Wednesday of that week. Warden Werlich praised FCI staff members for their efforts during the lockdown.
