Gwendolyn Carol Stever, age 77 of Centralia, Illinois, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017.
A celebration of life service will be held 5:30 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Calument Street Christian Church, 2240 E Calumet St, Centralia, IL. Visitation will be held at the church from 4:30 p.m. until service time. A private interment will be held in Maxey Cemetery on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are asked to be made to Gwendolyn’s great-nephew, to assist in his disability care. Please make memorials to Kurt Junker.
Gwendolyn Carol, the biological daughter of Elvin Stever and daughter of Charles “Howard” Miller and Cleora (Zeller) was born July 25, 1940. She was born in Highland, Illinois and raised in Bond County. Gwendolyn was never married, but had 2 very special nieces she raised like daughters: Stefanie Roy and Rene Junker. She was the proud puppy mother of Peppy, Shadow and Bear. Gwendolyn enjoyed traveling especially with the Senior Citizen’s bus tours. She was active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship of Calumet Street Christian Church. Gwendolyn was also active in the State of Illinois retirement for union workers.
She is survived by a brother John Miller and a sister Shirley Hughes. Gwendolyn is preceded in death by her parents and brother Ronald Miller and sister Maxine Rhine.
