An Effingham man, who announced his candidacy in September for the Illinois legislature, has withdrawn.
Brian Milleville had planned to be in the Republican primary for the 107th District state representative seat held by John Cavaletto.
Milleville announced last week he is no longer running for the public office because his son was seriously injured in a recent traffic accident. He said his son’s recovery period will be at least 6 to 8 months.
Milleville stated he hopes “another principled conservative candidate will enter the race to fight the Illinois GOP (Republican) establishment.”
Cavaletto is not seeking re-election.
Laura Myers of rural Greenville has announced she will be a Republican candidate for the state representative position. A Bond County native, Myers is employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections, and also farms with her husband, Butch.
Another Republican candidate is Blaine Wilhour from Beecher City. Adam Smith of rural Centralia also announced as a candidate, but has since withdrawn.
