Comets Football Rolls to 5th Straight Win

The Greenville Comets football team has a five-game winning streak after beating Roxana in the Shells’ homecoming game Friday night.

The final score was 32 to 8.

The Comets led the entire game although it was close in the first half. GHS was on top 13-0 when Roxana scored its only touchdown.

The Comets led 20-8 at halftime and outscored the Shells 12 to 0 in the second half.

Christian Moss continued his outstanding offensive season with 225 yards rushing and four touchdowns. He has 1,513 yards for the season and 20 touchdowns scored.

Isaac Green caught a 40-yard TD pass from Wil Harnetiaux and had two pass receptions for 56 total yards.
Defensively, the Comets held Roxana to 51 yards rushing and seven yards passing. Brandon Hamel and Drew Frey recorded interceptions. Stephen Schlaefer had five tackles and recovered a fumble. Hunter Robinson picked up six tackles while Matt Kalous had five.

The Comets are 5 and 1 for the season. They play at home Friday night against Hillsboro. Before the game, the 1982 football Comets, which advanced to the state final four, will be honored. With their 5th win of the season the Comets are now playoff eligible.
