GHS Volleyball Wraps Up Regular Season

The Greenville Lady Comets’ varsity volleyball team ended its regular season Tuesday night at Wood River.

GHS won 25-19, 25-5.

Team leaders were Allyson Haberer with 10 service points and 14 assists, Ally Cantrill with 10 service points, 3 aces, and 9 kills; Lauren Meadows with 13 serve receptions and 16 passes, and Nancy Fritzsche with 8 kills and 12 passes.

The varsity girls enter regional play next week with a 23 and 9 record.

They face Wood River again in the Roxana Class 3A Regional at 6:30 p.m. Monday. If the Lady Comets win, they advance to the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against Roxana. The regional title match is October 26 at 6 p.m. at Roxana.

The GHS junior varsity squad ended its season Tuesday at Wood River, beating the Oilers 25-16, 25-9.

Leading the team were Megan Hallemann with 10 kills and 2 blocks, Rylee Pickett with 13 service points, 3 aces and 17 passes; Brenna Weiss with 8 assists, Madelyn Daiber with 8 service points and 6 serve receptions, Natalie Iberg with 7 passes and 6 serve receptions, and Katie Hutchinson with 8 assists.

The JV Lady Comets had a 16-5-2 record for the season.
