Lady Comets Volleyball Win Championship

The Greenville High School varsity volleyball won the championship of the Carlinville Invitational on Saturday.

The Lady Comets went 3 and 1 in the tournament, falling to Calhoun, and then beating Valmeyer and Central A & M.

In the title match, Greenville beat Carlinville 27-25, 16-25 and 25-14. In the final match, Madison Gerdes had 16 service points, four aces and 17 assist. Ally Cantrill recorded 12 kills and 14 service receptions, Lauren Meadows has 19 serve receptions and 21 passes, and Kalie Meadows and Nia Ephron recorded two blocks each.

Nancy Fritzsche was named to the all-tournament team, totaling 34 kills in the four GHS matches.
