Myrtle D. Owens, age 88 of Greenville, passed away at her home Sunday, October 22, 2017.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00 a.m. till 12 Noon at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Myrtle was born on October 21, 1929 to Dona (Walker) and James Bell in Clifton, TN. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles P. Owens of Greenville, daughter, Rita Carlile of Greenville, grandchildren, Deanne (Kenneth) Dowdy of Pocahontas, Peggy (Brian) Bielong of Summerfield, Vicki Casey of O’Fallon, Alexis Carlile of Greenville, Nathaniel Carlile of Greenville, Alex Carlile of Greenville, Izaha Carlile of Greenville, and 5 great grandchildren, Allison, Kenneth Jr., Kaitlyn, Timothy, and Carter. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Myrtle and Charles were married on October 14, 1966 in East St. Louis, IL where they resided. In 1968, they moved to O’Fallon, IL where they raised their family. Myrtle retired from Bemis Bag in Fenton, MO after 32 years of employment. She then worked for Dollar General in O’Fallon, IL until they moved to their current residence in Greenville in 1995.
