Carl H. Hellmann

Carl H. Hellmann, age 84 of Glen Carbon, IL, formerly of Hamel, IL, died Thursday, November 09, 2017, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

He was born on Wednesday, December 21, 1932, in Hamel, IL, the son of Adolph and Lillian (nee Reising) Hellmann.

On Saturday, September 01, 1956, he married Marlene J. Hellmann nee Hafer, at the Presbyterian Church, Placentia, CA, who survives.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, IL; former member of the Meat Cutters Union, California; Meat Cutters Union Local 88, St. Louis, MO; Meat Cutters Union Local 534, Belleville, IL; Hamel Volunteer Fire Dept. (past Captain).

He was born and raised at Hamel Township; attended St. Paul Lutheran School, Hamel, IL. He served with the US Navy, duty in California and six months overseas during the Korean War. He and his wife lived in Orange County, California until 1971; when they moved to Alhambra, IL. Three years later they built their home in Alhambra Township just east of Hamel and lived there for 43 years. In September of this year they moved to Eden Village, Glen Carbon, IL.
Mr. Hellmann was a union meat cutter whiling living in California and at the local Schnuck Grocery Stores, Alton, Granite City, Fairview Heights and Collinsville. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.

Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel, IL.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, November 13, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL.

Memorial Service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL., with Rev. Benjamin Ball, Pastor, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be at Saint Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel, IL.
