MG Village Board Approves Christmas Tree For Village

At their Monday meeting, the Mulberry Grove Village Board approved getting and erecting a large evergreen tree for a Christmas tree for the Village. A local citizen volunteered to pay for the tree and the Village will provide lights and decorations. It was suggested to put the tree in the middle of Wall Street just south of the bank where Christmas trees were set many years ago. It was also suggested to plant the tree on Village property next to the old maintenance shed where it could be used for many years.

The new playground equipment is installed and usable. The Village is getting additional mulch to put around the old playground equipment.

A representative from a grant advisory firm spoke with board members concerning a grant for new water lines. The board decided to continue working on details of a grant and present it to the state in 2018.

Village employee Larry Langel is retiring after 40 years, effective Wednesday, November 22. Following an executive session, the board approved re-hiring Larry on a part-time basis for 2 ½ days a week beginning Monday, November 27. A cake and punch reception is planned for Wednesday, November 22, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. in recognition of Larry’s 40 years of service to the Village. Everyone is invited.
