The WGEL listening area is under a Winter Weather Advisory through 6 AM Friday.
Jim Kramper, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in St. Louis, told WGEL a very strong cold front will sweep through our area late Thursday afternoon and evening. Temperatures will drop very quickly into the 20’s. Kramper said by 7 PM most of the area will be at the freezing point or below. At that point, rain will turn to freezing rain and sleet. By Friday morning, Kramper expects temperatures to have dropped to the mid-teens.

Kramper said even though the weather will likely be dry first thing tomorrow, we cannot assume that the dangerous conditions will be over when it comes to slick roadways and sidewalks.
