Comets Fall In 5th Place Game

The Greenville Comets came back from a big deficit but couldn’t pull out a win Saturday afternoon in the 5th place game of the Litchfield Invitational.

Hillsboro was able to hold on for a 63 to 59 victory.

The Hiltoppers led by 11 at halftime and built a 19 point margin after 3 quarters.

The Comets came roaring back in the final frame, scoring 28 points and getting to within 2 a couple of times during the last minute. Hillsboro stayed in front by making free throws.

Christian Moss and Lucas Carlson had 16 points apiece for the Comets. Chad Stearns recorded 10.

For Hillsboro, Peyton Tester scored 18, Kaiden White had 15 and Drake Paden had 12.

The Comets are now 11 and 10 for the season. They play at Pana Tuesday night in a game that will be broadcast on WGEL.
