After failing to score in the first quarter, the Greenville Comets battled back Tuesday night at home to send the game against Nashville into overtime.
The Hornets finished with a 46 to 40 win.
Greenville trailed 8 to 0 after 8 minutes, fell behind by 14 points in the second quarter and was trailed by 11 at halftime.
The Comets got to within 2 points during the fourth quarter and held a couple of one point leads in the fourth frame.
It was 36-36 after regulation time. Nashville scored six of its 10 overtime points from the free throw line.
The Hornets outscored the Comets 9 to 2 at the line in the game.
Comets’ Head Coach Todd Cantrill said his players kept fighting despite the tough first half.
Christian Moss scored 13 points for GHS. The varsity Comets are 8 and 8 for the season with a game Friday night at Southwestern Piasa. The game will be broadcast on WGEL.
In junior varsity action, Wil Harnetiaux made the winning shot with 2 seconds left to give the Comets a 44 to 42 victory over Nashville.
