Edward “Ed” Henry Gaffner

Edward “Ed” Henry Gaffner, age 66 of Greenville, passed away early Monday morning, January 8, 2018 at his home north of Greenville.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Interment will follow in German Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorials may be made to the family.

Edward “Ed”, the son of LaVern and Anita (Volken” Gaffner, was born September 26, 1951 in Highland, Illinois. Edward grew up on the family farm, attended the local schools and graduated from Mulberry Grove High School. Edward joined the United States Army, serving during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged. Edward worked with his father on the farm, and continued farming. Mr. Gaffner worked for almost 40 years at the Peterson Spring Factory, retiring in 2017 for health reasons.

Edward and Carol Blunt were united in marriage on August 14, 1976. They have enjoyed 41 years together.

He is survived by his children: Karen Kent of Brookfield, Missouri, Duane Gaffner of Greenville, Kellie Moss of Greenville and Kamron Gaffner of Greenville. He was preceded in death by a son Daniel Blunt. He was the loving grandfather of 12. Edward was preceded in death by his only sibling Nora Gaffner.
