Jane G. Huels

Jane G. Huels, 85 of Carlyle, passed away at the Carlyle Healthcare Center on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

Mrs. Huels was born in Keytesville, Missouri, on September 20, 1932, a daughter of Hollis and Kathryn (Behrens) Grossman. She married James Donald Huels on October 1, 1955, in Topeka, Kansas, and he preceded her in death on July 29, 2001.

Jane is survived by her children – Steve Huels and wife Jane of Winnetka, Illinois, Dr. Stan Huels and wife Dr. Nanci of Altamont, Illinois, Donnell Campbell and husband Steve of Edwardsville, Delana Rauterkus and husband Jerry of Omaha, Nebraska, Stuart Huels and wife Holly of St. Louis, and Stacey Huels and wife Sara of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; 2 brothers – JC Grossman and wife Elaine of Raymore, Missouri and Jon Grossman of Independence, Missouri; and a brother-in-law – Bob Jones of Topeka, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; a brother – Jerry Grossman and a sister – Jennet Jones.

Mrs. Huels was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she served on the parish council and was a member of St. Ann Altar Sodality. She and her husband operated a dairy farm for 37 years. She also worked in Eldercare for FSVNA and as a real estate agent. Jane was a member of the Clinton County Homemakers Extension and an honorary member of St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and spending time with her family.

A Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle with Father George Mauck officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary will serve as honor guard at the funeral Mass. Visitation will be at Zieren Funeral home in Carlyle on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, February 3 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
