The Greenville Lady Comets were unable to win their final home game of the season Monday night, but got great news after their game.
Pana beat Hillsboro to give the Lady Comets the South Central Conference championship.
Greenville ended its conference season with an 8 and 1 record and now all other teams have at least two losses.
In the game, Christ Our Rock Lutheran beat the Lady Comets 43 to 35. The Centralia area school outscored the Lady Comets 13 to 6 at the free throw line and Greenville shot less than 30 percent in field goals.
Nancy Fritzsche and Kalie Meadows scored 8 points apiece for GHS.
It was also senior night and seniors Shauntaya Green and Kalie Meadows were honored before the game.
The Lady Comets are now 19 and 7 for the season. They try again for win number 20 Thursday night at Metro East Lutheran in Edwardsville.
