Lady Comets Over Staunton

The Greenville Lady Comets overcame a slow start at Staunton Monday night and rolled to a 65 to 27 victory.

Kolin Dothager said his team’s full court press and overall defense were effective.

Greenville led by 17 at halftime, 25 after 3 quarters and outscored Staunton 17 to 4 in the fourth quarter to win by 38

Four Lady Comets scored in double figures. Megan Hallemann and Ally Cantrill had 15 points apiece, Madison Gerdes had 11 points and Nancy Fritzsche added 10.

The varsity Lady Comets are 14 and 5 for the season and remain in first place in the South Central Conference with a 5 and 1 mark.

They play twice on January 15 in the Effingham Tournament.

The junior varsity Lady Comets rallied in the second half to defeat Staunton 49 to 45.

Natalie Iberg scored 17 points and Hannah Simpson had 14. The GHS junior varsity has a 10 and 2 record.
