Pocahontas Heads To Championship

The Pocahontas 8th grade boys’ basketball team has advanced to the championship game of the Class 1A regional at Little Flower Catholic School in Springfield.

The Indians, seeded second, beat Little Flower 40 to 29 in the opening round and in Monday night’s semifinals, edged Waverly 29 to 27.

Pocahontas will play Lovejoy at 6 p.m. Friday for the regional championship at Little Flower School.

Lovejoy, seeded 4th, beat the top-seeded team in the semifinals.

Thursday night’s regional champion advances to the sectional at Bluffs in Scott County on February 7.
