Pocahontas Second In Tourney


The Pocahontas Indians boys’ team finished second in the recent Sorento Greyhound Basketball Classic.

The Indians defeated Mt. Olive in the semifinal round. The final score was 44 to 35.

Cazdin Weber scored 15 points for Pocahontas, Chase Bellegante added 11, and Asa Green and Antoine Prayer recorded 8 each.

In the championship game against Pana St. Patrick, the Indians were edged 40 to 38.

Pocahontas trailed by 8 points at halftime, but battled back to tie the score late in the game.

St. Patrick sank free throws with 2 seconds left to win the title.

Leading the Pocahontas offense were Weber with 13 points and Bellegante with 9.
