William M. “Mike” Perrine


William M. “Mike” Perrine, age 74 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at his residence.

He was born April 07, 1943, in Flora, IL, the son of William T. and Mildred (nee Gilman) Perrine.

On May 06, 2000, he married Pauline L. Tebbe, nee Frey at Glen Carbon, IL. She survives in Highland, IL.

He was a member of V.F.W. Post #5694 of Highland, IL and Life Member of American Postal Workers Union Southwest IL Area Local 401.

Mike was born and grew up on a farm outside of Flora, IL. He graduated from Flora High School in 1961. Growing up in Flora he spent a lot of time fishing, hunting and enjoying nature with early walks in the timber. He worked for Sparton Manufacturing, Flora, up until he entered the service in 1967. He served with the US Army, active duty during the Vietnam War. During his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Marksmanship Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, two Bronze Service Stars and Infantryman Badge. He worked for the US Postal Service for over 30 years, began working at the O’Fallon, IL, Post Office and retired from the Highland Post Office in 2001. He often returned to the family farm, in Flora, to hunt with his grandchildren and close friends, it was always a special place for him. He and his wife just celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary. They spent many years enjoying weekends at their lake home at Keysport, IL; spending time on the beach and playing cards with friends and family. Although he was a man of few words he was very witty and would always make you smile. He was a die hard St. Louis Cardinals Fan.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at V.F.W. Post #5694, Highland, IL.

Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at V.F.W. Post #5694 of Highland with Father Pat Jakel, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Hospital or V.F.W. Post #5694.
