Blaine Wilhour, of Beecher City, is running for State Representative in the 107th District, the seat currently occupied by John Cavaletto who will not seek reelection.
Wilhour, a Republican, has served on the Fayette County Board.
He told WGEL he grew up on a farm and still farms in Fayette, Effingham, and Shelby Counties. He operates a family-owned construction business, Longhorn Buildings, in Beecher City.

Wilhour told us the state’s growth and competitive problem made him want to run. He said he’s tired of watching Illinois squander its advantages.

Wilhour said the state’s problems won’t be solved through taxes. The only way out of the situation is to control spending and grow the economy. He said as a business man, he knows the only way to grow the economy is to attract investment.
