Boys Regional Info Announced


The Illinois High School Association released information Friday about high school boy’s regional in Class 1A and Class 2A.

The Greenville Comets are in Class 2A and have been assigned to the Staunton Regional. GHS was seeded third in the sub-sectional behind Wesclin and Nashville. The Comets’ first action will be Wednesday, February 21 at 7 p.m.

They meet the winner of the Hillsboro-Gillespie game, which will be played February 19. The first game on February 19 is Staunton against Litchfield. That winner plays Nashville on February 20. The regional title game at Staunton is Friday February 23.

At the Wood River Class 2A Regional, Wood River plays Roxana on February 19, and the winner faces Wesclin in the first game on February 20. The second game that night will be Piasa Southwestern against Carlyle.

The Mulberry Grove Aces are in the Class 1A Windsor Regional.

The Aces are seeded third in the sub-sectional and begin regional play Tuesday, February 20 at 6 p.m. against Chrisman. If they win, the Aces will be in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 21.

All Class 1 and 2 regional championship games will be played Friday, February 23.
