Breese Central Girls In Final 4

The Breese Central girls’ basketball team is in the final four of the Class 3A state tournament.

The Lady Cougars, 29 and 3, will play their semifinal game at 12:45 p.m. Friday at Illinois State University in Normal. The opponent will be Nazareth Academy of LaGrange Park, which has a 30 and 2 record.

Central reached the Final Four by beating Effingham, 37 to 31, Monday night in the Springfield Supersectional.

Depending on what they do Friday, the Lady Cougars will play on Saturday, either at 11 a.m. for third place or at 12:45 p.m. for the state championship.

The Edwardsville girls are undefeated in 30 games and have advanced to the Class 4A final four. They play Lombard Montini at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.

The Class 1A and 2A girls’ tournaments are completed. Lebanon finished third in 1A. Danville Schlarman won the state title with Stockton finishing second.

In 2A, Teutopolis placed third, Chicago Harlan second and Chicago Marshall first.
