A Mulberry Grove man will go to trial in Fayette County Circuit Court on two first-degree murder charges.
A preliminary hearing was held last week for David LeRoy Bright, age 69. Fayette County Judge Don Sheafor ruled there was probable cause to continue the charges.
Bright pled not guilty to the accusations and demanded a trial by jury. The trial date is to be determined.
The defendant has asked the county to provide funds for him to hire an investigator. That request will be considered by the judge later this week.
Bright is charged with allegedly killing James Skinner of rural Brownstown on September 17 of last year. The state alleges the defendant used a sledgehammer to strike Skinner in the head and kill him.
The murder charges were filed on January 17. Bright is being held in the Fayette County Jail on $1 million bond.
