Comets End Season With 17-12 Record

The basketball season ended Wednesday night for the Greenville Comets in the semifinals of the Staunton Class 2A Regional.

Led by Drake Paden’s 25 points, Hillsboro defeated the Comets 55 to 40.

The Comets led 6 to 4 after the first quarter, but were outscored 26 to 9 in the second quarter as Hillsboro took control. Paden scored 15 of his points in the second period.

GHS got to within 10 points early in the fourth quarter but could get no closer.

Leading the Greenville offense were Christian Moss with 10 points and Drew Frey and Brock Nelson with 8 apiece.

Greenville and Hillsboro played four times this season with each team winning twice.

The Comets conclude their season with a 17 and 12 record plus a South Central Conference championship.
