Exciting Times At GJHS

Students at the Greenville Junior High School are excited because their 8th grade boys’ basketball team is playing for a state championship.

The Bluejays meet Germantown Hills, from the Peoria area, Thursday about 7:30 p.m.

Principal Gary Brauns believes most of the students are getting swept up in the excitement. He said this is the third year the Bluejays have gone this far in the season and the excitement has built each year. Several students will go to the game on a fan bus and others will be able to watch the game live-streamed in the school cafeteria. They’ll send the Bluejays off with a pep rally Thursday.

The joy of having a basketball team playing for a state title is good for everyone at this time of the school year, Brauns said. He said February is a down time and students are looking forward to spring. This type of excitement is a good change of pace.
