GU Men & Women Looking For Championships

With the regular season ending this week, Greenville University has a chance for the women’s and men’s basketball teams claiming championships in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Both are currently in first place. They play at Spalding University Wednesday and host Webster Saturday.

The Lady Panthers currently have a two-game lead over Webster after beating Blackburn last week 90 to 47. The G.U. women are 18 and 5 overall and 13 and 1 in conference play.

The Panthers picked up two conference wins last week, beating Blackburn 130 to 112 and edging Principia 105 to 100. Greenville has a one-game lead over Eureka.

A win by the G.U. men at Spalding on Wednesday would clinch no worse than a tie for the regular season championship.

In Saturday’s home action, the Greenville women’s game begins at 3 p.m. with the men’s game has a 5 p.m. start.
