The Kingsbury Park District Board held a public hearing Monday evening regarding a proposal to issue general obligation bonds.
Nobody from the public spoke about the bonds or asked questions.
The board is considering issuing $575,000 in bonds.
Park District Director Jerry Sauerwein spoke about the plan for the bond money. He said they need $240,000 to finish the OSLAD grant, they had budgeted about $75,000 for a prior commitment at Bicentennial Park, $3,500 will go toward countertops and cabinets in the meeting room at Patriot’s Park, and $246,500 will be put into land acquisition
The OSLAD grant is the state money being used for the swimming pool renovations. Bicentennial Park will be at the intersection of Fourth and Winter streets in Greenville.
The district paid off its last bond issue in December.
Board Chairman Scott Crothers said the proposed bond issue is smaller than the last one, so taxes would not increase compared to what was paid the last two years.
The board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 20 to consider action on a bond issue. If approved, it would be for three years.
