20 Win Season For Lady Comets

The Greenville Lady Comets ended their regular season Thursday night with a 52 to 41 win at Metro East Lutheran in Edwardsville.

GHS led 17 to 7 after one quarter and 31 to 15 at halftime,

Metro East shrank the deficit to 7 points after three quarters and got to within 5 in the final quarter before Greenville regained control of the action. The Lady Comets outscored Metro East 14 to 3 at the free throw line.

Leading the scoring were Nancy Fritzsche with 15 points and Rylee Pickett with 12.

The win was the 20th of the season for the Lady Comets in 27 games.

Coach Kolin Dothager said he’s happy to see his team record a 20-win season and a conference championship.

It’s the first 20-win season for a Greenville High girl’s team since 1989-90.

The Lady Comets play Tuesday night in the regional at Arthur.
