Following a two hour and 45 minute executive session, the Bond County Unit 2 school board voted Tuesday night to give Superintendent Wes Olson a new five year contract.
Hired in 2015 on a three-year contract, Olson received an extension last year to 2021.
The new five year contract takes Olson from July 1 of this year to the 2022-23 school year.
The board vote to approve the contract was 6 to 1 with Dan Sidwell voting no.
For the first year of the contract Olson will receive a 2 percent salary increase to $128,597. Increases for future years are to be determined.
The board also agreed to provide family health insurance coverage and in future years the district will pay no more than 7 and ½ percent of any annual premium increase.
Board Members Nate Prater and Edmar Schreiber praised Olson and said they looked forward to working with him.
