One of the most famous opera singers in the world will visit Greenville University Sunday and Monday.
Christine Brewer, a Grammy-Award winning soprano, will be the guest artist in this year’s Schoenhals Fine Arts Symposium.
During her visit to Greenville, Brewer will present a vocal recital at 4 p.m. Sunday. Monday, she will speak at 9:30 a.m. in chapel, and she will offer a vocal master class at 3:30 p.m. All events take place at the James E. Wilson Recital Hall in the Whitlock Music Center. They are free and open to the public.
Ms. Brewer was raised at Grand Tower in Southern Illinois. She attended McKendree University at Lebanon.
In the spring of 2015, Brewer received a bronze star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame.
She was named one of the top 20 sopranos of all time by BBC Music.
