Celebrated soprano singer Christine Brewer performed Sunday afternoon at Greenville University.
She sang two operatic selections, plus vignettes from the private papers of a World War II bride, in the first half of her recital and finished with 8 American classics, plus 2 encores.
Brewer also told a funny story about a previous appearance at Greenville College. She sang at LaDue Auditorium and needed a music page turner, which ended up being her husband. The music went flying and Ross Brewer said his page turning days were over.
While at Greenville University this week, Brewer spoke and sang at the chapel service and taught a vocal master class.
A Grammy winner who lives in Lebanon, Brewer has also been named one of the top 20 sopranos of the century by BBC Music Magazine.
