During the winter months we often notice trees with a new appreciation for their form, texture and beautiful characteristics. Perhaps you have wondered ‘what is that tree?’ Identifying trees during the dormant season can be challenging but fun. Without the leaves you must rely on characteristics such as the buds and bark.
Join Illinois Extension Forester Chris Evans for a two hour Winter Tree ID Workshop. The workshop will include a walk thorough a local park in Greenville, Illinois. The park has numerous trees along the trail to identify. The walking is rated easy. Participants will learn how to use a dichotomous key which will be available for use.
The workshop will be held Wednesday, February 14 from 10 am-12 pm at Patriots Park, Greenville Illinois. Call to 618-526-4551 or register online at web.extension.illinois.edu/bcjmw by February 12.
