Comets Baseball Lose Home Opener

Playing their first home game of the season Thursday afternoon, the Greenville Comets varsity baseball team lost Vandalia 5 to 3.

Pitching for the Comets were Trent Hlafka and Brick Nelson. Christian Moss had two hits for the Comets with Mason Johnson, Hlafka and Hunter Gray also hitting safely.

Garrett McNary totaled three hits for the Vandals. Matthew Wells was the winning pitcher.

It was Vandalia’s first game of the season.

The baseball Comets are 2 and 2 for the season. They play Teutopolis and Columbia at the Greenville field Saturday.

The junior varsity Comets defeated Vandalia 4 to 2.
