Comets Basketball Awards

The 2017-18 Greenville Comets boys basketball team was honored at a program Sunday afternoon.

The Comets had a 17 and 12 overall record and won the South Central Conference championship with 9 straight victories.

Head Coach Todd Cantrill presented special awards. Brock Nelson received the Free Throw Award with an 85 percent mark and his 10.4 scoring average earned him the Offensive Award.

Lucas Carlson was presented the Rebound Award with 117, Chad Stearns was given the Hustle Award and Mr. Comet Award, selected by the coaches; Christian Moss received the Defense Award and Gaite Brauns got the Most Improved Player Award.

Junior varsity patches, letters and chevrons were given to the players and manager Maddie Wade.

Coach Cantrill reported two individual records were set this season. Nelson established a new one by shooting 51 percent in three-pointers and Stearns set a new mark for overall shooting, making 68.7 percent of his attempts.
