Comets Baseball Now 3 & 0 In Conference

The Greenville Comets improved their South Central Conference baseball record to 3 and 0 with a home victory Friday over Roxana.

Playing at the Greenville University Robert Smith Field, the Comets posted a 10 to 0 victory.

Brock Nelson pitched the shutout. In six innings, he allowed only four hits, struck out seven and walked two.

GHS took the lead with 5 runs in the second inning, added a run in the third, another in the fourth and three in the sixth to end the game.

Blake Doll led the offense with three hits including two doubles. Christian Moss totaled two hits. Also hitting safely were Logan Doll, Trent Hlafka, David Thompson, Wil Harnetiaux and Keaton Roadman.

Thursday, the varsity Comets lost at Highland 7 to 4, after leading 2 to 0 entering into the last of the fifth.

Moss banged out two hits. Jonathan Barnes drove in two runs for the Comets.

After Friday’s win, the varsity Comets had an 8 and 8 overall record with one tie.

The junior varsity Comets lost at Highland 13 to 3. Wil Harnetiaux had two hits for GHS.
