Maureen C. “Mar” Hilmes, nee Hoh, 73, of Beaver Prairie, died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.
She was born May 7, 1944 in Breese, a daughter of the late Harry and Cecilia, nee Koopmann, Hoh.
Surviving are her husband, Robert “Bob” Hilmes of Beaver Prairie, whom she married April 16, 1966 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Marydale; children, Dana (Hector) Umbral of Breese, Brent Hilmes of Breese, Ryan (Ann) Hilmes of Beaver Prairie, Clint (Karen) Hilmes of Beaver Prairie, Dale Hilmes of Beaver Prairie, Aaron (Kelli) Hilmes of Beaver Prairie, Patrick (Valerie) Hilmes of Breese, and Sara (Jason) Jansen of Breese; grandchildren, Samantha Thole, Kayla Thole, Dakota Jamison, Aubrey Umbral, Nolan and Kayden Hilmes, Brett, Alexis, Winston, Johnny and Bobby Hilmes, Ava Hilmes, Briggs, Lux and Demi Hilmes, Jeremy, Myla and Waylin Hilmes, and Hanley and Harrison Jansen; siblings, Leroy (Tootsie) Hoh of Bartelso, Norma Tucker of Huey, and Dot (Joe) Hilmes of Beaver Prairie; brothers-in-law and sisters-in law Sylvester (Julie) Hilmes of Breese, Florence (Ray) Usselmann of Breese, Gerald (Marilyn) Hilmes of Beaver Prairie, Alice (Wilford) Pendergrass of Aviston, Geraldine Hilmes of Little Prairie, and Joan Hilmes of Beaver Prairie.
In addition to her parents, Mar was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law Marlin Tucker, Ferdinand Hilmes, Jerome Hilmes, and Wilfrid and Charlotte Hilmes.
Mar was a beautician and the owner of Nu Image in Breese for 57 years. She was a member of St. Felicitas Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Beaver Prairie. She enjoyed praying the rosary at church, working, and spending time with her grandchildren, who meant everything to her. She did not know a stranger and was always “go, go, go.”
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Felicitas Catholic Church in Beaver Prairie with Fr. Larry Nickels presiding. Interment will follow in St. Felicitas Cemetery in Beaver Prairie.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Clinton County Relay for Life, and St. Joseph’s Hospital Lights for Scholarship and will be received at the funeral home.
