Area Athletes State Bound In Track

Several area high school girls will compete later this week in state track meets.

In Class 1A, Keocea Sarchet from Patoka will be in the shot put and Anaelise Severs is in the 100 meter dash.

From the Nashville Sectional, the qualifiers include, from Trenton Wesclin, Shelby Weihe in the pole vault, and Kristina Hilmes in the 300 hurdles, from Okawville, Audrey Jansen in the long jump, Megan Cook in the discus, Abby Riechmann in the two mile run, and Madelyn Tepe in the 800 and mile runs; from Mater Dei, Carly Etter in the long jump, and from Nashville, Sydney Schnitker in the triple jump, Carli Hoffman in the shot put, Josie Middleton in the discus, and Jadah Heidel in the 1200 meter dash and 300 hurdles.

The Wesclin 400 and 800 relay teams will run at state, as will the Nashville mile and two mile relay squads.

The state track meets are at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Class 1A preliminaries are Thursday.
