For the first time since 2011, the Greenville Comets’ baseball team is going to the sectional.
In the championship game of the Vandalia Class 2A Regional Monday afternoon, the Comets defeated Newton 7 to 1 and will play Staunton in the Flora Sectional Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on WGEL.
In the regional title game, GHS got very good pitching from starter Lucas Carlson who gave up only two hits and struck out eight in five and two-thirds innings. Brock Nelson finished the game, striking out two.
