Greenville High School has a player in the state Class 1A state tournament.

Joshua Brannon, a senior, finished fourth last week at the Chatham-Glenwood Sectional to advance to the state tourney. He won his first two matches in three sets, then lost to the number one seed and was beaten in the third place match.

Christopher Watterson also played singles for GHS, winning his first round match and losing the second.

The Comets doubles pairs of Zach Bohannon and Seth Owens, and Daniel Kester and Lawton File lost their first round matches.

Brannon will play at state Thursday. It is a double elimination tournament being held at several sites in the Chicago area.
