Busy Week For Baseball Comets

The Greenville High School baseball Comets earned a victory Friday at Litchfield.

GHS rolled to a 12 to 1 decision, scoring 8 runs in the first inning.

Brock Nelson was the winning pitcher.

On offense, Mason Johnson had three hits including a double. Johnson and Jonathan Barnes drove in three runs apiece.

The baseball Comets have a busy week ahead.

They host Okawville Tuesday, play at home Wednesday against Metro East Lutheran and host the Ish Smith Classic on Saturday, playing Nashville at 10 a.m. and Flora at 2 p.m.

The Comets have been assigned to the Vandalia Class 2A Regional. The first round game will be in Greenville, Monday, May 14, at 4:30 p.m. GHS will play Vandalia. The Comets are home since they are seeded 8th in the sectional complex and Vandalia is 9th.

The winner of Monday’s game advances to the regional semifinals at Vandalia to play Mater Dei at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16.

The regional championship game is at noon Saturday, May 19.
