Carlyle Lake Hosts Kids To Parks Day Event

To commemorate the National Park Trust’s (NPT) Seventh Annual National Kids to Parks Day, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake is inviting kids to help create a pollinator garden. The event will take place at the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, 19 May 2018.

Habitat loss and environmental contaminants have caused several pollinator species to drastically decline. Participants at the event can help these species recover by assisting with milkweed and wildflower plantings that will help provide pollinators food and cover.

National Kids to Parks Day is a nationwide celebration of the great outdoors, designed to connect kids and families to their local, state, and federal parks and public lands. By discovering and exploring public lands, kids across the country learn about park stewardship, outdoor recreation, and the history of our country. Teaching kids to appreciate and enjoy public lands, helps foster future outdoor enthusiasts and creates the next generation of park stewards and caretakers of these important places.
