The Mulberry Grove High School softball team completed a conference sweep for the spring by winning the championship of the Egyptian-Illini Tournament Saturday.
The Lady Aces won three straight games, defeating St. Elmo-Brownstown 7 to 1, beating Ramsey 11 to 1 and topping Cowden Herrick-Beecher City10 to 0.
Mulberry Grove also won the regular season conference title.
On offense for the Lady Aces, Samantha Coleman had five hits in the tourney including a home run, Makayla Dothager posted five hits and five RBIs, Anjelikka Hopkins totaled five hits and drove in five runs, Alyssa Dothager had three hits and 2 RBIs, Trista Koertge had a hit and drove in two runs, and Kaitlyn Rench came up with two hits.
Mulberry Grove is seeded 5th in the post-season sectional complex and will play in the Okawville Class 1A Regional. The Lady Aces battle Valmeyer at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16 in the semifinals. The winner advances to the regional title game at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10 at Okawville.
