County Board Talks Business, Guns & Banner

In their regular meeting this week, the Bond County Board approved a request by Scott Epperson to establish a business in Mulberry Grove Township to sell firearms.

County residents Glenn Kreider, Larry Loughary, and John Turley approached the board regarding a resolution opposing the passage of some House and Senate Bills and requesting to establish Bond County as a gun sanctuary county. Fayette and Effingham counties have recently passed a similar resolution in support of citizens who own guns. The board unanimously voted to table the matter until their next meeting.

The board announced an opening on the Bond County Housing Authority Board. Dan Sidwell is being recommended for the position.

The board also approved a request from the Simple Room to place a banner on the courthouse lawn to promote their Project 24 Summer Literacy Program.
