Kaskaskia College is proud to announce that Interim President George Evans of Albers has been named the 2018 Full-Time Staff Member of the Year.

Evans began his career at Kaskaskia College in 2010 as the Director of the Education Program at the Centralia Correctional Center, where he served as an advocate for correctional center education as a means to reduce recidivism in Illinois’ prison population. In 2012, he was named Dean of Career and Technical Education, using his near-inexhaustible energy to establish new programs, while enhancing current ones with new technology and labs. In January of 2018, George was named the 11th President of the College, the first KC President to have also been a graduate of Kaskaskia College. In a short time he has overseen the establishment of a new program to replace lost dual credit hours at area high schools while at the same time working diligently as the “face of Kaskaskia College” to re-establish ties with local governments and businesses.

He received three nominations for this award from three different colleagues, which shows the high regard he is held within the College. As an advocate for the College and its students, George tackles each responsibility with great energy, enthusiasm and compassion. He works tirelessly to ensure that the college maintains its high level of academic standards, as well as to reinforce to the Kaskaskia College community, that we remain a family oriented, student centered, institution of higher learning. George practices what he preaches as he takes time to meet and get to know everyone he meets on campus. Many a time George will stop in the hallway on his way to a meeting to visit with students, faculty and staff. His honest and caring attitude demonstrates his integrity and sincere dedication to the College.

George’s personality revolves around helping and respecting others. He has a genuine regard for others, showing consideration and fostering an environment of teamwork and excellence. He has created a culture at KC that includes a sense of pride campus wide. He is KC’s #1 cheerleader for many and he makes working at Kaskaskia College a joy!
