GU Baseball Falls In Championship Round

After being seeded last in the four-team St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament over the weekend, the Greenville Panthers reached the championship round.

The tourney was held at Robert Smith Field in Greenville.

The Panthers lost to top-seeded Webster, 14 to 7, Thursday, then beat Westminster 18 to 9 and Spalding 4 to 0 on Friday.

Saturday was championship day with the Panthers needing to beat Webster twice to advance to the national tournament.

G.U. won the first game, 9 to 4, but lost to Webster in the final one 8 to 0.

Named to the all-tournament team from Greenville University were Jonah Moore, Jesse Getz and Austin Marsh.

Greenville ended its season with a 23 and 20 overall record.
