The WGEL listening area had an eventful start to the day Sunday with a severe thunderstorm warning from the National Weather Service. The warning area included portions of Madison, Bond, Montgomery, and Fayette Counties. It only lasted about a half-hour, but managed to drop a lot of rain in that time. WGEL received reports of 1 to 1.5 inches of rain from the Mulberry Grove and Smithboro areas. There were no reports of damage according to area law enforcement agencies.
