Shoal Creek Firefighters responded Sunday, at 10:47 p.m., to a report of a structure fire at a residence on Sunnyside Avenue in rural Sorento. According to information from the police department, several out buildings were involved and were damaged. Greenville, Pocahontas-Old Ripley, New Douglas, and Taylor Springs provided mutual aid. The Illinois Fire Marshal is investigating. Firefighters were on the scene about two hours and no injuries were reported.
Pocahontas-Old Ripley Firefighters were called Sunday, at 2:17 p.m., to a report of a grass fire by the railroad tracks on Dolls Orchard Road. According to information from the police department, firefighters extinguished the fire and were on the scene about 45 minutes.
