Mary Lucille Restoff


Mary Lucille Restoff of Okawville, IL departed this life at her residence surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 9:33 A.M. She had attained the age of 85 years and 29 days.

Mary was born in East St. Louis, IL on April 3, 1933 the daughter of Harold William and Margaret (nee Powell) Hand. She was united in marriage to August Thomas Restoff on November 1, 1952 in St. Clair County, IL and he preceded her in death on December 7, 2005.

Mrs. Restoff was the Activity Director at the West Main Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville and had previously been a member of the Legion of Mary at Holy Angels Catholic Church in East St. Louis. When her daughters were little, Mary volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and she loved playing Bingo at the Okawville American Legion.

Left to mourn her passing is her three daughters, Deborah Kay Smith of Evansville, IN, Barbara Louise Snyder and husband Edgar Sr. of Okawville and Tina Marie Poggemoeller and husband David of Greenville, IL; 12 grandchildren, Melissa Gray, Joanna Pryor and husband Jacob, Kimberly Wren and husband Chad, Edgar Hand Jr., Nicole Snyder-Forgy and fiancé James Grice, Lisa Kasperzick and husband Kirk, Brittany Restoff and fiancé Mike Kuelker, Danielle Poggemoeller and special friend Joshua Harnetiaux, David Jr., Destiny, Jayden and Sophia Poggemoeller; six great grandchildren, Roselyn Snyder, Katheryn Forgy, Gabe, Parker and Catherine Pryor, and Joseph Gray; a brother, Leroy Hand of O’Fallon, MO; two sisters, Catherine Mitchelle of Columbia, IL and Sarah Hasty and husband Donnie of Mena, AR; special nephew, David Hand; special niece, Mary Kinney and husband Gary; other nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Keagan Poggemoeller; a brother, Harold Hand Jr.; two sisters, Helen Snellenburger and Emma Mae Ferguson and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hand.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 11 A.M. with Fr. Tad Gegotek officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Wednesday from 9 A.M. until 10:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
