Edward McMillan of rural Greenville was one of eight persons to receive this year’s Order of Lincoln Award from the Lincoln Academy of Illinois.
The laureates were honored May 5 at a ceremony, concert and reception in Rockford.
Governor Bruce Rauner said the laureates are an extraordinary group that embodies President Lincoln’s relentless and passionate spirit for public service. They have positively changed their communities in numerous ways.
McMillan has served on numerous boards throughout his professional career. He is a leader in state and national agribusiness, having been president and CEO of Purina Mills.
The University of Illinois graduate has been a member of the board of trustees for the University of Illinois System since 2009.
He is the principal and CEO of McMillan L.L.C., M & A Transaction Consultants, based in Greenville.
The Order of Lincoln Award was created 54 years ago.
